Japan’s most famous rock garden and part of a Zen temple / school.
It so wonderfully reflects life itself …
Its’ date of construction = ‘unknown’
Its’ creator / designer = ‘speculative’
Its’ meaning = ‘unclear’
It is said that, ‘it is up to each viewer to work out the meaning for him/herself’
No matter which vantage point you view the garden from, you cannot see all 15 rocks at the same time!!!
The ‘ko-down’ on Ryoanji …
In a world with cyclical existence, then one can imagine the garden’s creator hanging out in the shadows, somewhere beneath a beautiful Japanese maple or cherry-blossom, having a good ol’ belly laugh at the frustrated monks and tourists alike, trying to make sense of his / her masterpiece! (reincarnated as a White Goodman type character possibly?)
Why do many of us feel the need to control, categorise, label and make sense of most everything!? Can’t some things just ‘BE’?
“The least amount of judging we do, the better off we are.”
Michael J Fox … Parkinsons ‘sufferer’
Koneko.life … where the Dalai Lama & Dodgeball co-exist … and maybe even ‘get’ each other!
